On our way to Matt’s next preaching engagement in April at West Gulfport Baptist Church we had to pass through Louisiana to get to Mississippi. Our Louisiana encounters were so divinely coordinated that there is no way to deny God’s existence in our daily lives.

Something y’all may not know is that we have a sticky map on the side of our Suburban. It is just an outline of the United States and it comes with all of the states and lakes to fill in as you visit them. As we were passing through Louisiana, Matt said, “We need to do some ministry here! I want to be able to put the sticker on the side of the truck that shows we have ministered in Louisiana! Erin, we need to find someone to pray over!”

About 15-20 minutes later, we were driving through Baton Rouge during 5 o’clock traffic, so it was a slow-moving time we were having. While we were “driving,” a vehicle zoomed up next to us on the freeway and a lady named Jolynn was driving. She pointed at the side of our vehicle and said to us, “My family did that same exact thing when my kids were younger! We traveled the country for TEN YEARS!!!” Wow! We amazed! She wished blessings on us and then zipped away to head on her way. In about 5 minutes, my phone rang. It was a Louisiana phone number calling me. I answered it and guess who was on the phone! It was Jolynn, the “drive-by blesser!”

She had gone on the website (in that crazy traffic) to look us up and to see if there was a way to contact us. Sure enough! There she found our phone number. She called and asked if she could bless us with a meal. We said “Yes,” of course! BUT in the process of the conversation she started to say, “I feel the Holy Spirit telling me to ask you if y’all would stop and pray for someone?” WHAT?!?! Unbelievable! Matt had just put it out there that the desire of his heart was to minister to someone in Louisiana, specifically to pray over someone, and God sent Mrs. Jolynn our way to hand that gift to us! God is so good!

We were being asked to pray over a 29 year old woman named Maegan who had had a massive heart attack 2 days earlier. She was in a coma and they were unsure of her making it through. We visited with her family first and then we went into her ICU room to lay hands and pray over her. I knew without a doubt the moment I touched her that she was in there, alive and well! We prayed over her and Matt anointed her with oil, reading scripture over her, knowing that she could hear every word we were all saying.

We left there and headed out to Gulfport, MS. On Easter Sunday we heard news that the family was “having to make difficult decisions” in regards to Maegan, as well as a phone call from Jolynn asking us to lift them in prayer again. I was in prayer that Monday, all day long. Everything I did was with my mind on Maegan and her family.

Sure enough! She came out of that coma through God’s divine placement of a new doctor on her case and being transferred to the hospital in New Orleans. About a week or so later, she left the hospital with a pacemaker and a new lease on life! Even the doctors and nurses were calling in her a walking miracle, saying there is no other explanation! Praise God from whom ALL blessing flow!
